Hello, this is your first step towards understanding a synthesiser, and hopefully playing it. Let's kick it!
No matter which synth model you are using,
the functions are always the same! We will be starting with the EG.
But first, we need something that produces a sound!
In synth terms, it's called oscillator. It's the orange rectangle on the right.
This keyboard will be trigger the sound to the oscillator.
With the oscillator on and the keyboard plugged, we can now make a sound! Click on the marked key to get our sound!
Also, try to press longer on the key!
If you notice, no matter how long you click on the key, you will only hear a short beep!
We might need a knob to fix this!
It's called the sustain nob!
Did you notice how the beep is short even if you press long? This is why there's a knob called Sustain.
Click on it!
Decay
Another two keys that we need to know about are the Release and the Decay!
The Release allows a fade out at the end of our sound.
The Decay allows a fade in at the beginning of our sound.
Let's try!
